Pragyan Ojha transfers to Mumbai Indians from Deccan Chargers
Pragyan Ojha, the Indian left-arm spinner has transferred to Mumbai Indians from Deccan Chargers for IPL 2012 Season 5 during the IPL Transfer Window trading for an undisclosed transfer fee. Ojha became the sixth player to change team after Karthik, Sathish, Pietersen, Harmeet Singh and McDonald during this pre-season transfer window.
Ojha had been playing for the Deccan Chargers since the first season of the Indian Premier League in 2008. He took 62 wickets in 56 matches at an average of 22.19 and an economy-rate of 7.08 in his IPL T20 career. Ojha was the leading wicket-taker and the Purple Cap winner of the 2010 edition of the IPL.
The owner of the Mumbai Indians, Nita Ambani said in a statement that her team signed Ojha because of his International success and past record in the world arena. “With a spinner of Pragyan Ojha’s competence, we fortify our bowling department that has won us many matches in the past seasons. Pragyan Ojha is a player of great international repute, and we welcome him with much excitement”.
His 24 wickets in 4 games helped Surrey to promotion to Division One of the LV County Championship.
