IPL 2012 Auction: Set Max brings DLF IPL Player Auction 2012

On February 4, 2012, the IPL 2012 Player Auction was scheduled to take place in Bangalore. This is a crucial process for selecting additional players that may be needed for the success of each franchise in IPL Season 5. To get cricket fans closer to this highly anticipated event, Max planned to broadcast the IPL Auction LIVE, as the nine team owners battled it out in Bangalore to create their dream teams.

The DLF IPL Player Auction 2012 started at 10:45 AM on February 4th, with anchor Archana Vijaya and commentator Arun Lal bringing all the behind-the-scenes excitement. It then moved on to intense live coverage of the auction at Bangalore’s ITC Royal Gardenia Hotel at 11 AM.

In the auction, 144 players from 11 countries went under the hammer. The squad size for each IPL team increased to 33 from the previous limit of 30, and the salary cap was raised by $2 million to support the larger squad size.

Neeraj Vyas, the Executive Vice President & Business Head of MAX, said, “DLF IPL Player Auction 2012 will set the stage for what promises to be an absorbing fifth season of the DLF IPL, which will set the nation roaring. Alternating between the studio and the auction venue, MAX will bring an up-close and personal perspective of the event, which will keep the audience enthralled.”
