Dinesh Karthik transfer to Mumbai Indians

Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was transferred from Kings XI Punjab to Mumbai Indians during the first transfer window before the IPL 2012 season, marking the first significant transfer of the season. Mumbai Indians acquired Karthik for an undisclosed amount, which was the highest amount paid to purchase a player from another team in IPL history.

As part of the exchange, all-rounder R Sathish was sent to Kings XI. Mumbai Indians reportedly paid around $2.35 million (approximately Rs 12.4 crores) to Kings XI Punjab for Karthik’s transfer, while Kings XI had paid $900,000 (approximately Rs 4.77 crores) to acquire him during the January 2011 auction. This move was beneficial for both teams.
